Ok, this post I am gonna do the past week in reverse cuz yesterday (Friday) was the most fucked up day I have had in a long time. I got to warn you all right now, I am gonna type the word "fuck" a lot while I tell you what happened yesterday. UGLY Bartender Contest

Hi ALL ! ! !

Well, here I am again already. Two posts in one weekend. Aint done that for a while I think. Reason for that is this mornin I was cleanin up the kitchen when my phone chimed. I got a text message from Tim the head bartender at the club. He told me he read yesterdays blog and wanted to know why I didn’t tell all you peeps bout the UGLY bartender contest we had in june. UGLY stands for Understandin, Generous, Lovable, You.

It’s a skills and knowledge contest and all the bartenders took part. Each bartender signs up members to sponsor them and all the money goes to a charity. I know it’s a big charity but I cant remember which one.

The contest has a few parts to it. There is the skills part where they perform behind the bar and throw bottles and glasses and ice and other stuff around while they make the drinks. Some call that Flairin, others call it Performing, even heard the term Barnastics...like gymnastics.

They do that at nite mostly at the club. Now and again one of them will do a few moves on day shift but not usually.

Well anyways they all did awesome in that. I missed the first day of it but got to watch all of the 2nd day and the finals on the 3rd day. Yes, I had a couple of favorites I wanted to win that part but I cant say who since some of the bartenders read this blog.

I can say this one flair that Kelly did (not the pastry chef kelly, the bartender one...lol) he had two glasses on the bar about a foot apart from each other. He threw three ice cubes behind his back into each glass. Then tossed a bottle behind his back, it twirled over his head and he grabbed it right before it smashed into the glass and the alcohol went into the glass perfectly. George did a really cool flair but I couldn’t see most of it. He kicked two bottles up and down, one bottle per foot. It was like jugglin with his feet. Where I was standin I could only see when the bottles came up high.

Another part of the contest was a written test. They did that in the back.

Another event was drink knowledge. A few at a time would be at a table and some really weird drinks I never heard of would be called out. They had like 3 mins to make the drink then the taste would be judged and if it was made the right way. I think I heard of like maybe 2 or 3 drinks they had to make.

The other event was like a game show where they were asked a bunch of questions with diff values. Questions were all bout alcohol and history of bartendin and other stuff. That was pretty fun to watch. Ben, the bouncer was the game show host of that event and he was soooooo funny.

The other event, which I didn’t get to see was a memory test. They had a bunch of ingredients and methods to make a drink told to them really quick, whoever remembered the most and made the drink would win.

Gus won 1st place, Tim got 2nd place, and I think it was jake who was in 3rd. I know Ted and Ryan got honorable mentions though.

Ok, there u go Tim, I told everyone bout the UGLY contest...lol. Seriously though, Tim organized the whole thing and he really did an awesome job. Everythin seemed to run really smoothly and the decorations were so awesome. I heard the made tons for the charity, wish I could remember which one it is.

While I have Tim's attention there is one thing I want to say. Since he hired the new bartenders few months ago for day and nite shift he is soooooooo much more relaxed. No more bitin our heads off or getting all frazzled and he even makes sure the dried fruit bowls are kept filled when im around...lol. (Inside Joke)

Oooooo another thing, since I know for sure Tims readin this I get a chance to imberass him...hehehehehe.
